Natural Farming

Concept and Origin

The idea was first developed by a Japanese agricultural scientist Masanobu Fukuoka in 1930. The idea is to go back to nature to produce things we need deriving power from the nature and only using natural techniques. natural farming is a form of agriculture that has been practiced in nearly every imaginable climate and culture around the world over many thousands of years of human history. It is a way of thinking and living that shares common roots with many Eastern religions, wisdom traditions, and the ecological mindsets of indigenous peoples from many—though of course not all—regions of the world. Thus aligning the concept of sustainable development and sustainability, where we go back to our roots without compromising our ability to feed continual increase in human consumption of resources. Natural farming is not only a way of growing food, but of finding ways to carry out every aspect of human life on earth in ways that regenerate our own health, the health of society, and the health of the environment around us.

Hariyali Abhiyan

How we Started

Hence to trail blaze the way of organic farming in Nepal, Hariyali Abhiyan has introduced the concept of “natural farming”. A very sophisticated, regenerative, highly productive, low cost model of agriculture that aims to solve the problem of both feeding the future generations without hindering the ability of feeding the current generations, the core of sustainability and sustainable development, in an environment friendly, society friendly, people friendly, nation friendly business model. It employs the concept of Natural Farming in several districts to feed Nepali people and to break out agriculture scene in Nepal in much more sustainable and effective way. The plan is to provide Nepali people a healthy and affordable way to consume foods, vegetables, bean and lentils, fruit, and animal products. The company also aims to earn foreign currency by exporting certified organic produce to neighbouring South Asian countries and Gulf countries (where demand for naturally produced organic foods is very high).

To supply the world with healthy food and farm based products all over the world through the production of the ancient science based natural farming technologies involving most of the people residing around the farming areas of the country, preserving nature and ending world hunger in the process.

  • To produce the natural food products in high volume through  farmer clusters in different areas, thus helping them economically and financially.
    To make the agro based food products hygienic and naturally healthy following the natural technology in farming.
    To produce crops, cereal and green vegetables from high altitude land Himalayan ranges.
    To supply the more hygienic and naturally healthy food products globally.
    To  inculcate  the cultures of entrepreneurship in Nepali agriculture and farming practice.
    To make Nepal self sustaining and export oriented in  agriculture and farming.
    To preserve the natural order of farming thus helping soil to regain its natural fertility.
    To educate and aware people of the merits of natural farming and to provide support for those interested.
    To help make earth a better place for its inhabitants.

  • 1. Identify and acquire appropriate lands in twelve major districts in adequate size.
    2. Identify and Form clusters of farmers willing to devote their toil  in this venture, and train them and help them get involved in the farming process.
    3. Apply the process of natural farming in the acquired lands involving farmers clusters in those districts.
    4. Establish linkages between farms to market on a priority basis.
    5. Establish linkages between farms and other processing industries.
    6. Establish our own unit of manufacturing and processing for natural and healthy food and other agro based products.
    7. Receive certificate of quality and inspection from global accreditation agencies to facilitate the export of locally produced products to gulf countries, initially and expanding further to other countries.
